The aim of this is development of individual system components, which allows measurement of real 3D space where the RFID tag moves relative to the reader antenna. The values obtained will be evaluated and visualized. The system can be used to measure both under laboratory conditions and in the areas of real installation of RFID systems for customers.

The information about actual minimum performance of RFID signal from each antenna will be obtained in defined places. This minimum performance of RFID signal is necessary to read a moving RFID Etalons. Values are stored in a database and are prepared for subsequent processing. Software in the evaluation process will work with data files obtained from a 3D measurement. The output of the measurement software will be in the form of graphical visualization and data files representing the minimum power required for reading RFID Etalons in the specific coordinates system. For proper and clear visualization of a particular interpretation of the results will be used modern technologies for 3D imaging. Visualization will provide a clear overview of the quality of the signal measured at each point of space.

The maximum size of the measured area, in which the proposed 3D measurement system will move, is 10x10m with height restrictions 2m. System resolution is 50x50x50cm.

The stationary part of the measuring system is composed by RFID transponders with the possibility of connecting 4 antennas. This part will be fixed during the measurement and it will transmit RFID signal into space which will gradual increase in performance in the band 865-868MHz.

The mobile part of the measuring system is composed from Etalon which enables to detect the level of RFID signal even the below limit which the ordinary passive RFID tag needs for its activity. The Etalon will move along a predetermined trajectory both in horizontal as well as the vertical level.

It is supposed to develop manual and automatic measuring system.

The manual device will allow the implementation of the measurement by only one person who will placed the Etalon into predefined positions, and then perform measurements in different horizontal levels (after 50 cm) up to 2 m. The frame for manual measurements will be indifferent to the RFID signal and will not affect the signal level at the point of measurement. The structure is self-supporting and allows measurements without holding the operator.

The automatic option allows automatic unattended horizontal and vertical measurements without any assistance at the time of measurement. The proposed solution is based on a robotic device that moves along a predetermined path, and it performs a series of measurements at each point.

The information about actual minimum performance of RFID signal from each antenna will be obtained in defined places. This minimum performance of RFID signal is necessary to read a moving RFID Etalons. Values are stored in a database and are prepared for subsequent processing.

The output of the measurement software will be in the form of many data files representing the lowest power of RFID reader which is required for reading Etalon in the specific coordinates. Visualization gives users a clear overview of the quality of the signal at each point of measured space.
